1. Five Ohio teens, Jessica, Lily, Audrey, Lianna, and Grace, who were all adopted from China, decided to forego their annual Christmas gift exchange and donate the money instead to Half the Sky

2. Campbell – I asked my friends to bring donations for HTS instead of gifts to my birthday party, and I want to donate the money I received to my hometown program in Lianyungang. Click here to read what Campbell has to say.

3. Amanda – With the money I raised on my birthday, I will sponsor 2 children from the HTS program.

4. Anna – I accepted money in place of gifts for my 5th birthday to give to HTS’ earthquake relief efforts in China.

5. Danielle – I held a dance fundraiser at my school and donated the money to HTS.

6. Grace – With the money I collected at my 7th birthday, I was able to sponsor 3 children from Guangzhou Social Welfare Institute, where I was adopted as a baby.

7. Hannah – I asked for donations instead of gifts on my 6th birthday and gave the money to HTS.

8. Hazel – I asked for donations instead of gifts on my 8th birthday this past summer and gave the money to the Children’s Earthquake fund.

9. Iris – I gave all my birthday money to HTS so they can get art supplies to the children in the orphanages.

10. Jared – For my Bar Mitzvah, I ran a fundraiser for Half the Sky by writing a letter and sending it to the congregation at my Temple, religious school and nursery school. Because I wanted to do more, I decided to help the children in China by donating some of my own money as well.

11. Julie – I asked guests to bring money instead of gifts for my first Holy Communion. I want it to help the orphans in China.

12. Loral & Jorgie – We both collected money on our birthdays to give to HTS

13. Mae – I collected money for HTS on my birthday this summer.

14. MeiMei Dancers – We held a dance fundraiser to help the victims of the earthquake in China.

15. Moira & Chelsea – I collected money from people at my church as part of a Lent project to help the children in China.

16. Amanda – I raised money through my school's Chinese New Year celebration. In order to wear the color red to school rather than our every day uniforms, my classmates made donations to HTS.
